Accounts committee finds corruption in Pokhara International Airport project 



KATHMANDU: The Public Accounts Committee of the federal parliament has concluded that corruption occurred during the construction of Pokhara International Airport.

An on-site inspection led by Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chair and MP Rajendra Lingden found significant irregularities in the project.

The committee’s report, titled “On-site Study and Monitoring Report of Pokhara Regional International Airport, 2081,” states that corruption and irregularities were present from the very beginning of the contract process.

The report highlights both financial and technical mismanagement and accuses the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, and the Ministry of Finance of approving over Rs 2 billion in irregular payments in violation of the original agreement and public procurement laws.

The committee has recommended action against all decision-makers, officials, and employees involved from the feasibility study phase through to the completion of construction.
