NEB finalizes all preparations for SEE

A total of 514,071 students appearing

KATHMANDU: The National Examination Board, Office of the Controller of Examinations, has completed all necessary preparations for this year’s Secondary Education Examination (SEE), which will begin on March 20.

Nandalal Poudel, Examination Controller of Grade 10, confirmed that all required materials, including question papers, symbol numbers, and answer sheets, have been distributed to every district across the country.

Poudel stated that the number of candidates for this year’s SEE has increased significantly, with 514,071 students registered, up from 464,785 last year.

A total of 2,079 examination centers have been set up nationwide, with provisions for an assistant center head at each center with up to 150 examinees, and one invigilator for every 20 students.

However, centers with fewer than 75 students will not have an assistant center head.

This year, three centers outside regular schools, including a juvenile correction center and a prison, have been designated for SEE candidates.

Students from two prisons in Kathmandu and Dailekh, as well as a juvenile correction home in Bhaktapur, will take the examination at these centers.

Additionally, students from the Sukhata HIV Shiksha Sadan in Kirtipur, including four HIV-infected students, will also participate in the SEE.

The examination will run from March 20 to April 1, with the exams scheduled daily from 8 am to 11 am.

On the first day, compulsory English will be examined, alongside Sanskrit for Vedavidyashram students and Arabic for Madrasa students.

The National Examination Board aims to increase the pass rate to 70%, under the letter grading system. In the previous year (2080 BS), the pass rate was 48 percent.
