Nepal-Sri Lanka discuss trade and climate cooperation at Indian Ocean Conference

MUSCAT: Nepal’s Foreign Minister Dr Arzu Rana Deuba met with her Sri Lankan counterpart, Vijitha Herath, on the sidelines of the 8th Indian Ocean Conference to discuss strengthening bilateral relations.

In a statement following the meeting, Rana stressed Nepal and Sri Lanka’s shared commitment to expanding trade and working together for climate justice.

She also urged for increased air connectivity between the two nations, specifically proposing direct flights from Colombo to Bhairahawa to enhance tourism and trade.

Earlier, on Sunday, Rana held talks with Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar.

She is currently in Muscat, Oman, for a seven-day official visit.
