Shuklaphanta excels in fiduciary risk assessment, Dodhara Chandani fails to deliver

KATHMANDU: Shuklaphanta Municipality has secured the second position in Sudurpaschim Province and first in Kanchanpur district in the local-level fiduciary risk assessment for the fiscal year 2023/24, scoring 95 marks.

This evaluation, conducted annually by the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, aims to ensure transparency, lawfulness, and effectiveness in the financial system at the local level.

The assessment is based on planning, budget and programme management, implementation capacity, accounting and reporting, monitoring and evaluation, audit, and revenue management.

Chief Administrative Officer Khem Raj Bista stated that the risk assessment plays a crucial role in identifying financial risks and institutionalizing good governance at the municipal level. He added that Shuklaphanta performed strongly across all criteria, with high scores in planning, budget management, and implementation capacity.

In Kanchanpur, Bedkot Municipality scored 93, Beldandi Rural Municipality 90.5, Laljhadi Rural Municipality 88.5, Belauri Municipality 82.5, Bhimdatta Municipality 78.5, Krishnapur Municipality 77, and Rehabilitation Municipality 66.5. However, Dodhara Chandani Municipality failed to produce any results in the assessment, raising concerns about its financial management and governance practices.
