Gen-Z movement victims laid to rest with national honors

KATHMANDU: Those who lost their lives during the Gen-Z movement were laid to rest with national honors.

On Tuesday, the bodies were taken from Teaching Hospital to Pashupati Aryaghat, where the victims of the Gen-Z movement were given a state funeral with full honors.

Home and Law Minister Om Prakash Aryal and Minister for Energy, Physical Infrastructure, and Urban Development Kulman Ghising draped the national flag over the bodies and paid tribute, while security personnel rendered a salute. Some of the deceased were transported to their home districts for final rites.

The government had earlier decided to declare those who died in the Gen-Z movement as martyrs and to provide them with a state funeral with national honors. Additionally, a national day of mourning and public holiday will be observed on September 17.
