Government to launch integrated business recovery plan for private sector

KATHMANDU: The government plans to introduce an integrated business recovery plan targeting the private sector.

Newly appointed Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal said on Tuesday that the initiative aims to help entrepreneurs overcome challenges caused by recent disruptions.

Khanal, speaking with representatives of private sector associations, emphasized that the government is committed to providing relief through tax and monetary policy measures. He added that public services will now be delivered more effectively, allowing citizens and businesses to directly experience the government’s responsiveness.

The Finance Minister also informed attendees that he had inspected damaged structures in the auto sector in Thapathali, Bhatbhateni Superstore in Koteshwor, Annapurna and Kantipur media houses, and the traffic police office.

Finance Secretary Ghanshyam Upadhyay noted that banks and customs offices will remain open on public holidays (except Dashain) and the government is working to reopen the TatoPani border, which has been blocked due to landslides.

During the discussion, private sector representatives congratulated the new Finance Minister and requested that the government ensure the safety, promotion, and investment-friendliness of industrial and business activities. They urged timely decisions on tax relief, concessional loans, and insurance payouts to compensate for the damages incurred during the Gen-Z protests on September 08-09.

The meeting included representatives from the Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Nepal Chambers and Commerce, Nepal Industrial Association, Nepal Auto Dealers Association, and major corporate groups including Chaudhary and Bhatbhateni.
