Gaza ‘burning’ amid heavy Israeli bombardment

TEL AVIV: Israel’s Defence Minister said that “Gaza is burning” following a night of intense Israeli airstrikes on Gaza City.

While not officially confirmed by the Israeli military, reports from the Jerusalem Post and Axios suggest that Israel may have begun a full-scale ground offensive aimed at seizing control of the entire city.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has identified Gaza City as the last major Hamas stronghold, pledging to bring it under Israeli control — a move that has sparked widespread international criticism.

According to local journalists, Gaza City has faced near-constant Israeli bombardment, including airstrikes, artillery fire, and gunfire.

The escalation followed a visit to Jerusalem by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who reaffirmed strong American support for Israel in its ongoing military campaign.
