SIRAHA: Lahan Municipality has launched a weeklong door-to-door health screening campaign for diabetes and high blood pressure.
Health workers are visiting households across the city to conduct free tests, starting from Padaria Tole in Ward No. 12 on Sunday, under the slogan “Health workers at your doorstep.”
Mayor Mahesh Prasad Chaudhary said the campaign aims to identify hidden patients and ensure timely treatment. “There are many people with undiagnosed conditions in our communities. This initiative will help detect cases early and refer patients for further care,” he said.
The mayor also shared that medicines will be provided on-site for those already undergoing treatment.
Lahan Municipality has 12 health posts and four basic health centers. According to Bindeshwar Chaudhary, head of the municipal health department, all available health workers have been deployed for the campaign. “Each health worker is assigned to household visits throughout the week,” he said.
A similar program conducted last year reached more than 4,000 residents. The municipality expects to surpass that number this year and improve access to preventive care at the community level.
