KMC Deputy Mayor Dangol inspects road construction in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol conducted a field inspection of the ongoing “Dust-Free Road” project under the KMC Masterplan.

Accompanied by Chief Administrative Officer Saroj Guragain, Vice Chairman of the Urban Planning Commission Dr. Suman Narsingh Rajbhandari, Ward Chair Khyamraj Tiwari, Head of the Public Works Department Suraj Shakya, Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Unit Head Sumitra Subedi Lamichhane, and other technicians, Dangol monitored the blacktopping work on Lainchaur road.

During the inspection, Deputy Mayor Dangol instructed the team to submit a technical report and demanded immediate corrections to visible shortcomings, emphasizing the importance of maintaining quality in construction.

The Lainchaur road segment being worked on spans 434 meters and is part of a broader initiative to develop dust-free roads in the northern wards of the city—specifically wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 26, 28, 29, and 30.

The total estimated cost of the project is around Rs 900 million, with a contract worth Rs 730 million already signed through the public procurement process. So far, works worth approximately Rs 200 million have been completed. The full project is scheduled to be finished by June 2026.
