Energy Minister Ghising orders collection of unpaid dedicated trunkline dues



KATHMANDU: Newly appointed Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Kulman Ghising, has directed the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) to immediately begin collecting long-overdue payments from dedicated trunkline users.

The directive, issued as Ghising’s very first decision after assuming office on Monday, marks a shift in policy. During his earlier tenure as NEA’s executive director, successive governments had not allowed the authority to collect these arrears.

With Ghising now at the helm of the ministry, he has prioritized recovering the outstanding dues, which have long been a contentious issue between electricity consumers and the government.
