Madhyabindu Provincial Hospital upgraded to 100-bed facility

NAWALPARASI: Madhyabindu Provincial Hospital, located in Kawasoti-16, Danda of Nawalparasi (Bardaghat-Susta East), has been upgraded to a 100-bed facility.

Originally established as a district hospital with just 15 beds, the hospital was later designated as a provincial hospital under Gandaki Province.

Dr. Ramesh Acharya, the hospital’s Medical Superintendent, said the upgrade was approved by the Gandaki Province Council of Ministers, with commitments from the provincial government to expand staffing, infrastructure, and services accordingly.

Currently, the hospital employs 99 staff members. Dr. Acharya stated that the number of personnel will be scaled up to meet the requirements of a 100-bed hospital over the next four years.

An agreement has been made with the provincial government to initially appoint 22 specialist doctors and 15 medical officers. Additional non-technical staff will be recruited using local resources.

Dr. Acharya noted that the hospital still lacks doctors in departments such as General Medicine, ENT, and Ophthalmology, although a dermatologist is expected to join soon.

He also highlighted the absence of an ICU and an Anesthesiology department, emphasizing that the need for patients to travel to Bharatpur for critical care will be eliminated once these services are established.

While the hospital has constructed three state-of-the-art modular operating theaters, they remain non-operational due to ongoing electricity supply issues, he added.
