Nepal to face China’s Yunnan Youth Team in friendly football match

KATHMANDU: A friendly football match between Nepal and the youth team from China’s Yunnan province is set to take place at Dasharath Stadium on Saturday.

The match is being organized jointly by the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, the National Sports Council (NSC), the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), and the Nepal Overseas Chinese Association to celebrate the Chinese New Year.

This is the second friendly football match between Nepal and China.

ANFA had put 45 players under closed training for an extended period under the leadership of Rajesh Shahi to prepare for the match.

Last year, Nepal’s U-23 team secured a dominant 5-1 victory against the Chinese team at the same venue.

This time, Nepal is set to field its U-20 squad for the match. Alongside the game, cultural programs showcasing Nepal-China ties will also be held at the stadium.

The Chinese team arrived in Kathmandu on February 13 to participate in the event.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 2:30 pm at Dasharath Stadium.
