Some areas in Kathmandu to witness power outage today

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has announced scheduled power cuts in several areas of Kathmandu today.

The outages are part of efforts to upgrade the distribution system, specifically undergrounding the lines.

According to the NEA’s public notice, electricity will be cut off from 11 am to 3 pm in areas under the Gongbu feeder of the Maharajgunj Distribution Center.

Affected areas include Basundhara, Gongabu Town Planning, Samakhusi, and Ranibari.

The NEA has apologized for any inconvenience caused by these outages and assured the public that efforts will be made to complete the work ahead of schedule.

In addition, power will be disrupted between 10 am and 5 pm in areas under the hospital feeder of the Maharajgunj Distribution Center.

This includes locations such as Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, the President’s Office, the Police Training Center, and Nirmal Niwas, as high-capacity transmission lines and poles are being relocated.

Furthermore, the NEA has informed that electricity will also be temporarily suspended today in various areas under the Bhojpur and Surkhet Distribution Centers for maintenance and tree pruning activities.
