UML Convention to extend by 3 days



KATHMANDU: The election schedule for the 11th general convention of the CPN-UML has been made public, confirming that the convention, initially set to conclude in three days, will now extend by an additional three days.

The election timetable, announced on Sunday during the closed session of the convention, outlines the process for selecting the party’s new leadership.

While the convention was originally scheduled to conclude on Mangsir 29 (December 15), it is now likely to end on Poush 2 (December 17) if no disputes arise.

According to the UML Central Election Commission, the voters’ list will be published on Sunday at 7 PM. The schedule also includes procedures for objections to the voters’ list, publishing notifications of disputes, investigation and decision on objections, final voters’ list publication, distribution and registration of candidates’ application forms, publication of the preliminary candidates’ list, filing complaints against candidates, investigation and decisions on complaints, withdrawal of candidates, and final candidates’ list publication.

Voting is scheduled for Poush 1 (December 16) from 11 AM to 5 PM. After electronic voting, the timetable includes vote counting, announcement of results, certificate distribution, and oath-taking of the elected leaders.
