Home Minister Aryal ends hunger strike of protester Madan Budha at Maitighar

KATHMANDU: Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal on Tuesday ended the hunger strike of Madan Budha from Achham, who had been staging a fast-unto-death at Maitighar Mandala demanding representation for Sudurpaschim Province in the federal government.

Budha had been on hunger strike for the past four days, pressing a set of three demands displayed on a banner at the protest site.

Minister Aryal personally visited Maitighar Mandala and offered Budha a glass of water to end his strike, according to Kathmandu District Police spokesperson SP Pawan Kumar Bhattarai.

Speaking at the site, Aryal said the government had already received the complaint related to Budha’s demands and assured that those responsible would be brought under legal action.
