Youth arrested with over Rs 2.2 million in cash and drugs



NEPALGUNJ: Police have arrested a youth from Nepalgunj, Banke, with over Rs 2.2 million in cash and 15.5 grams of brown sugar.

The District Court, Banke, remanded him in custody for four days, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Deepak Patali of the District Police Office.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team from the District Police Office and the Narcotics Control Bureau Branch, Nepalgunj, searched the residence of 28-year-old Ramesh Loniya of Nepalgunj-14 on Tuesday night.

During the raid, authorities recovered brown sugar along with cash totaling Rs 2,203,915 in both Nepali and Indian currency, DSP Patali said.

In addition, police seized various gold and silver ornaments, five khukuris, two motorcycles, and 10 mobile phones from the house.

DSP Patali further informed that four individuals who attempted to obstruct the operation were also detained. Two of them were taken into custody on charges of indecent behavior towards police officers.
