Prachanda defends two-point agreement with govt as in national interest

KATHMANDU: Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Chair of the CPN (Maoist Centre), stated today that the two-point agreement reached with the government on Friday was made in the national interest.

Speaking to media persons at Biratnagar Airport on Saturday morning, Prachanda said that for national interest, it is a continuous process of sometimes moving forward with agreements, sometimes stepping back, and sometimes rebelling. He suggested that the agreement could be understood in any way.

The former Prime Minister further explained that the agreement was reached because they believed a prolonged obstruction of Parliament would create problems, and it was deemed necessary to resume parliamentary proceedings.

Prachanda clarified that the CPN (Maoist Centre) signed the two-point agreement after it was agreed to form a committee within one month to investigate the visit visa controversy.

He also dismissed rumors circulating that the Maoist Centre would join the government following the two-point agreement, stating there was no truth to such claims.
