Bill on Land Reform presented in parliament

KATHMANDU: The government has presented the Bill to Amend Certain Nepal Acts Relating to Land, 2025 at today’s meeting of the House of Representatives.

Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Balram Adhikari, said the bill seeks to make land-related laws more timely and address long-standing issues stemming from past land surveys conducted between 1964 and 1971.

According to Minister Adhikari, the bill includes provisions to resolve complications where settlements remain unregistered and land revenue remains unpaid due to historical survey shortcomings.

A notice of opposition to the bill, submitted by MP Prem Suwal, was rejected by a majority in the House prior to the bill’s presentation.
