Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Rana leaves for Oman

Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Arzu Rana Deuba has left for Oman today. Minister Rana left for Oman leading a four-member Nepali delegation to the Eighth Indian Ocean Conference to be organized in the Omani capital of Muscat.

The Conference is taking place from today until February 20. Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai and Ministry officials bid her farewell at Tribhuvan International Airport.

Foreign Minister Rana is attending the Conference at the invitation of Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, the Foreign Minister of Oman.

NEB publishes Grade 12 exam schedule

The National Examination Board (NEB) released the annual exam schedule for Grade 12.

In a notice issued today (Friday), the Board announced the schedule for the Grade 12 exams to be held in April – May, 2025.

According to the notice, the exams for regular and partial students in the general, traditional, and technical streams will begin on April 24, 2025 and conclude on May 7, 2025.

First batch of 1,000 Nepali caregivers set to depart for Israel

The first batch of 1,000 Nepali auxiliary workers for the caregiver sector in Israel is set to leave soon.

The visa process for the first 100 workers has already been finalized, with the remaining applicants progressing as planned.

A total of 2,112 candidates, including 1,156 females and 956 males, were selected through a transparent live lottery held in August 2024 at the Population and Immigration Authority (PIBA) office in Jerusalem.

The remaining 1,112 candidates will begin their process as the first group completes theirs.

Prachanda calls Nepal’s trilateral electricity trade agreement a milestone

Maoist Center Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has termed Nepal’s trilateral electricity trade agreement with India and Bangladesh a milestone in the country’s economic and energy sector.

Speaking at a meeting with officials of the Independent Power Producers Association of Nepal (IPPAN) today, he highlighted the importance of the agreement, which he had signed during his tenure as Prime Minister during an official visit to India.

Gold price up by Rs 400 per tola

Following a rise of Rs 2,300 per tola yesterday (Thursday), the price of gold continued to increase today.

Meanwhile, silver prices also saw an uptick, as reported by the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers.

The price of gold increased by 400 rupees per tola today, reaching 170,200 rupees. Yesterday, the price of gold was 169,800 rupees per tola.

RPP criticizes Supreme Court’s ban on infrastructure projects in protected areas

Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chair Rajendra Lingden strongly opposed the Supreme Court’s recent order to completely ban infrastructure development in protected areas, calling it a major obstacle to Nepal’s development.

Speaking at a meeting with officials from the Independent Power Producers Association of Nepal (IPPAN), Lingden said that Nepal’s energy sector is already struggling due to flawed government policies, and the court’s decision will further hamper progress.

Black-breasted Thrush recorded second time in Nepal

The Black-breasted Thrush has been recorded for the second time in Nepal.

A team comprising Manashanta Ghimire, President of Pokhara Bird Society, and ornithologists Hathan Chaudhary and Gopi Shrestha sighted the bird in Dharan forest in course of carrying out a monitoring.

Ghimire said that this is the second sighting of this species of bird for Nepal. Its first recording was made three years back in Danabari of Ilam district.

World’s longest and tallest ‘Megatroll’ begins operation in Parbat

The world’s tallest and longest ‘Megatroll’ has officially come into operation at ‘The Cliff’ in Kushma.

Standing 225 meters tall and stretching 1,228 meters long, the Megatroll is fast becoming a major attraction for adventure tourism.

The Megatroll ride starts from a tower at The Cliff premises in Balewa and ends at another tower below Kushma Bazaar.

Valentine’s Day observed today

The origins of Valentine’s Day are rooted in both legend and history. One popular tale recounts that Saint Valentine miraculously restored sight to the blind daughter of his judge.

TU to launch online form submission for certificates, including transcripts

Tribhuvan University’s (TU) Examination Controller’s Office has announced plans to offer online form submission for certificates, including transcripts, starting next month.

Examination Controller Pushparaj Joshi confirmed that students will soon be able to fill out certificate forms, including for transcripts, from the comfort of their homes.
