KATHMANDU: The Unified Socialists party is holding Standing Committee and Politburo meetings on February 18 and 19.

The meetings will focus on current political issues, the government’s ordinances, enhancing the party’s effectiveness in parliament, addressing corruption, and collaborating with opposition parties on issues concerning public welfare, as shared by party General Secretary Ghanashyam Bhusal.

The agenda and work schedule for the Central Committee meeting, which will be held from February 20, will also be approved.

Prior to the Central Committee meeting, the Secretariat, Standing Committee, and Politburo will review and approve the political, economic, and organizational reports.

The Standing Committee will determine the approval of other agenda items and work schedules for the Central Committee meeting, Bhusal said.

It will also assess the progress of the party’s mass organizations and decide on the upcoming conventions for those groups.

The meeting will also review the party’s organizational formation and reorganization efforts at the grassroots level, along with the region-specific responsibilities assigned to party leaders.

Additionally, the meeting will discuss the unity of leftist forces and the formation of a coalition with ideologically aligned parties, according to Damodar Aryal, Deputy Head of the Publicity Department.
