At security council meeting, PM stresses coordination among all security agencies

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sushila Karki, who leads the interim government, chaired a meeting of the National Security Council on Monday afternoon.

According to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, the meeting reviewed the overall security situation of the country and discussed necessary preparations in detail.

Held at the Security Council Secretariat in Singha Durbar, the session featured reports from senior officials of relevant ministries on internal peace, border security, and emerging national challenges.

Prime Minister Karki emphasized the need for effective coordination among all agencies related to national security. She stated that the government has placed the safety of citizens as its top priority.

Energy Minister Kulman Ghising, Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, senior government officials, security chiefs, and council members were present at the meeting.

The meeting was convened amid rising security concerns following the Gen-Z protests, during which thousands of weapons went missing and over 100,000 rounds of ammunition were looted.

Meanwhile, around 6,000 inmates who escaped from prisons across the country remain at large. Home Minister Aryal recently announced that a special operation is underway to recover the looted arms.
