Opposition spreading lies about Spain visit: PM Oli

JHAPA: Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli has accused opposition forces and what he called “anarchist elements” of spreading false propaganda in an attempt to undermine the success of his recent visit to Spain.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Madan Dangi–Tarabari–Dipu road upgrading project in Damak Municipality, Jhapa, Prime Minister Oli dismissed claims that people were left behind during his Spain visit as baseless and politically motivated.

“I went to Spain, and our role there was commendable,” Oli said. “But the opposition and some anarchist groups, unable to tolerate that success, started making nonsensical claims that people were left behind. Is that even possible? Can it be proven?”

He added, “They keep shouting for proof, but they’ve always lied and continued to spread falsehoods. How long will this kind of politics last? I urge everyone to avoid engaging in such destructive behavior.”

The newly inaugurated road is a pride project of Damak Municipality, supported by the World Bank, and one of 17 model roads selected nationwide. The 4.86-kilometer stretch was completed on time at a cost of Rs 442.4 million and is being held up as a successful example of infrastructure development.

Prime Minister Oli said the road represents a broader wave of development being carried out from Mechi to Mahakali and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to completing these ongoing projects. He also announced plans to construct a large stadium in Beldangi, Damak.

Oli further noted that this year’s Secondary Education Examination (SEE) results improved by 13 percent, crediting the success to free online classes in key subjects conducted with a spirit of volunteerism, as part of the government’s broader reform efforts.
