Nepal committed to women’s empowerment: Minister Sudi



KATHMANDU: Minister for Women, Children, and Senior Citizens Nawal Kishore Sah Sudi has reaffirmed Nepal’s commitment to safeguarding women’s rights and advancing their empowerment.

Addressing a ministerial roundtable at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on Wednesday, Minister Sudi highlighted that Nepal is dedicated to providing opportunities for women at all levels of the state while actively working to eliminate violence against them. He said the government has strengthened its legal and policy framework to support these goals.

Leading the Nepali delegation at the 69th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, Minister Sudi reiterated that the government is fully prepared to implement national and international commitments aimed at promoting gender equality.

He stressed that priority has been given to political rights, governance, education, employment, health, and other areas to ensure women’s equality and development.

According to Nepal’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York, the minister highlighted the progressive provisions enshrined in the constitution, underscoring Nepal’s determination to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment on both national and global platforms.
