KATHMANDU: Kamal Adhikari, a 23-year-old Nepali student who had been missing from London for a month and a half, has been found safe.
The Nepali Embassy in London confirmed that Adhikari, who had been missing since February 2, was located at a homeless shelter in East London.
Bipin Duwadi, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Nepali Embassy, said that the embassy immediately informed Adhikari’s family in Nepal and has started preparations to send him back at their request.
He added that Adhikari has also expressed his desire to return to Nepal.
According to the embassy, Adhikari’s physical and mental health is stable, and his passport is currently with the UK Home Office.
Adhikari, a student at the University of Creative Arts in London, was forced to live on the streets after being kicked out of his accommodation. Following his disappearance, his family filed a petition with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, urging them to search for him.
The Nepali Embassy promptly notified the London Metropolitan Police to assist in locating him. Originally from Hanspur-6, Dhanusha, Adhikari came to the UK to study in 2022.
