NEPSE drops by 7.26 points, trading volume down



KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index fell by 7.26 points on Thursday, closing at 2,678 points.

The trading volume also saw a dip, with the day’s total turnover recorded at Rs 7.92 billion, down from Rs 8.71 billion on Wednesday.

While 76 companies saw an increase in their stock prices, 162 declined, and six remained unchanged.

The finance sector led the gains, rising by 1.88 %, followed by the investment sector with an increase of 0.52 % and microfinance at 0.17 %.

However, most other sectors experienced losses. The banking sector dropped by 0.23 %, while development banks fell by 0.95 %. The hotel and tourism sector decreased by 0.58 %, hydropower by 0.90 %, life insurance by 0.14 %, and manufacturing by 0.47 %.

The non-life insurance sector also saw a decline of 0.87 %, while the ‘others’ category dropped by 0.10 % and the trading sector by 0.01 %.

Despite the overall market decline, finance stocks outperformed, showing resilience amid the downturn.
