Inquiry Commission seeks details of property damage during September protests



KATHMANDU: The Inquiry Commission formed to investigate the physical and human losses incurred during the protests of September 8 and 9  has called on concerned parties to submit detailed reports of damages to political parties, organizations, and private or public properties.

According to Commission spokesperson Bigyan Raj Sharma, the Commission, formed under Section 3 of the Inquiry Commission Act, 2026 BS, has been carrying out investigations since September 25. It has requested that affected individuals and institutions provide the type and estimated cost of the damage, along with clarification on whether the damaged property was insured.

The Commission has asked that reports be sent via email to [ [email protected]], including the name and address of the individual or organization, nature of the damage, estimated loss, insurance details, and any other relevant remarks.

It has also requested submission of supporting evidence such as photos, videos, or documents to verify the incidents. The Commission stated that it has launched an extensive evidence-gathering campaign to ascertain the facts regarding the human and material losses during the protests across Kathmandu and other parts of the country.
