PM Oli inaugurates Bhagiratha Buddhashanti Hospital in Jhapa

JHAPA: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today inaugurated the newly constructed Bhagiratha Neupane Buddhashanti Hospital at Buddhashanti Rural Municipality-3 in Jhapa district.

Built at a cost of Rs 65 million, the 10-bed hospital was established on 15 katthas of land donated by the children of Bhagiratha Neupane, Nepal’s first woman pradhanpanch, in her memory. Neupane had served as the pradhanpanch of the then Budhabare Village Panchayat.

According to Manoj Prasain, Chairperson of Buddhashanti Rural Municipality and the Hospital Management Committee, the hospital has been staffed with six doctors, including one MD physician, four MBBS doctors, and one radiologist. Of these, three MBBS doctors have been appointed directly by the rural municipality through its own resources.

The hospital offers a range of services including general medicine, minor surgery, gynecology and maternity care, pediatrics, dental care, lab testing, x-ray, echo services, and pharmacy support. Chairperson Prasain stated that the hospital will operate round-the-clock, with birthing services expected to begin from August 17.

The facility is expected to benefit approximately 53,000 residents of Buddhashanti Rural Municipality as well as patients from the southern belt of neighboring Ilam district.
