Two dead, six injured in accident in Baitadi



BAITADI: Two people were killed and six others injured in an SUV accident in Baitadi district on Friday morning.

The SUV (registration number: SuPra 04 001 J 1372), which was en route from Dhangadhi to Ganna in Darchula, skidded off the road and plunged nearly 70 meters down at Khirpali in Patan-6.

According to Baitadi District Police Office Spokesperson Inspector Balram Pandey, 24-year-old Santosh Bahadur Rana, who was also the driver, and 32-year-old Kiran Bohora, both from Dilasaini Rural Municipality-1, died while undergoing treatment at Patan Primary Health Center.

The injured have been identified as 45-year-old Ram Kumar Rana, 21-year-old Bhagarathi Khatri, her two-year-old daughter Elisha, 21-year-old Hemanta Prasad Bhatta, 27-year-old Rajendra Bahadur Khatri, and 51-year-old Kamala Dhami. Among them, Rajendra and Kamala have been referred to Dhangadhi for further treatment.

The cause of the accident is yet to be determined, police said.
