Umesh Shrestha arranges free education for Tinkune victim’s daughter

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress Treasurer Umesh Shrestha has pledged to provide free education for the daughter of Sabin Maharjan, who tragically lost his life in the Tinkune incident.

Shrestha announced that he had arranged for the eight-year-old daughter of the deceased to receive free education up to grade 12 at the Laboratory School in Kirtipur.

This initiative comes after learning that the financial situation of Maharjan’s family was dire.

“After discussions with Sabin’s family, it became clear that they wanted their daughter to attend a good school. As per their wishes, I have ensured she will be supported with free education through grade 12. I’ve coordinated with the school administration and the mayor of Kirtipur Municipality to make this arrangement,” Shrestha said.

The Nepali Congress leader, who has a long history of supporting the education sector, said this was part of his ongoing commitment to humanitarian assistance, especially for the young girl who lost her guardian.

Shrestha also revealed that Nepal Women’s Association President Usha Raut Mishra and Human Rights Commission Commissioner Lily Thapa had brought the situation to his attention, urging him to take the necessary steps to support the bereaved family.
