Petroleum product imports continue to rise



PARSA: Petroleum products worth Rs 90.6 billion were imported through the Birgunj checkpoint in the first six months of the current fiscal year.

This marks an increase of Rs 2.75 billion compared to imports during the same period of the previous fiscal year. Revenue collected from petroleum imports during this period reached Rs 37.85 billion.

According to Uday Singh Bista, Information Officer at the Birgunj Customs Office, both petroleum imports and the revenue generated from them have increased significantly compared to the first six months of the previous fiscal year. In the corresponding period last year, petroleum products worth Rs 87.31 billion were imported, generating revenue of Rs 36.14 billion.

Customs data show that diesel imports worth Rs 45.38 billion generated Rs 19.85 billion in revenue during the review period. Similarly, petrol imports worth Rs 20.98 billion contributed Rs 13.82 billion in revenue, while LPG gas imports valued at Rs 14.79 billion generated Rs 2.77 billion in revenue.
