Rabi Lamichhane sent to custody after court statement
Rastriya Swatantra Party chair Rabi Lamichhane arrived at the Kathmandu District Court early Sunday morning for his statement regarding the Swarnalakshmi Multipurpose Cooperative fraud case.
He reached the court premises in a Scorpio SUV, accompanied by a few associates, smiling and waving to supporters and journalists before entering the courtroom.
Lamichhane appeared before Judge Madhav Prasad Adhikari’s bench, where his statement was recorded.
Rabi Lamichhane’s bail hearing to begin on Monday at 11 AM
The bail hearing for Rabi Lamichhane, the chair of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), will begin at 11 AM on Monday.
The statement-recording process in front of Judge Madhav Prasad Adhikari was completed on Sunday. Although the hearing was initially scheduled for Sunday, it was delayed due to time constraints.
According to Kathmandu District Court’s information officer Amar Bahadur Chand, the hearing will now begin on Monday.
Kulman’s clarification delivered to Singha Durbar, Challenges Minister Khadka to remove him
Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Managing Director Kulman Ghising has submitted his response to the clarification sought by Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Minister Dipak Khadka.
The eight-point clarification, requested on January 6 (Paush 22), was answered by Ghising on Sunday afternoon at the ministry located in Singha Durbar.
Ghising has submitted a nine-point clarification to the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation. In his six-page clarification, Ghising refutes the government’s allegations against him.
Government sends three ordinances to the President for authentication
The government has sent three ordinances, passed by the Cabinet on Friday, to President Ramchandra Paudel for authentication.
On Sunday, the Prime Minister’s Secretariat informed that the ordinances were sent to the President for approval after the Cabinet meeting on Friday.
The three ordinances aim to amend 14 to 15 laws.
Mayor Balen questions role of provincial govt in local issues
Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Balendra (Balen) Shah has emphasized the need for a provincial government that is capable of both taking and delegating authority.
In a discussion with Dr. Hari Prasad Lamsal, Chief Secretary to the Bagmati Province Chief Minister and Office of the Council of Ministers, who visited him on Sunday, Mayor Shah pointed out that the current provincial government has not been able to effectively manage the transfer of authority.
He stated, “We need a provincial government that can take authority from the federal government and delegate authority to strengthen the local level. Unfortunately, this situation has not yet materialized.”
NRB directs BFIs to open accounts using Nat’l Identity Card
Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has issued a public notice urging banks and financial institutions to make arrangements to open accounts based on national identity cards.
This follows a previous directive from the central bank through a unified guideline.
To ensure easier access to national identity cards, the National Identity Card and Registration Department has facilitated the issuance of cards through District Administration Offices across the country.
