First fast-charging station for EVs opens along Narayangadh-Butwal Road

KATHMANDU: A fast-charging station for electric vehicles (EVs) has come into operation at Kawasoti-11 in Nawalparasi (Bardaghat-Susta East), providing a much-needed facility along the 114-km Narayangadh-Butwal road section.

The station, established with an investment of Rs 10 million, can charge up to five small and large vehicles simultaneously. Local entrepreneur Bishnu Adhikari set up the facility on five kattha of land with support from the Nepal Electricity Authority.

The station operates 24 hours a day and can serve around 50 vehicles daily. However, Adhikari noted that road expansion delays have posed challenges. Once the Narayangadh-Butwal road widening project is completed, the station plans to add 10 more charging nozzles.

To further support EV drivers, Adhikari also plans to establish a refreshment center at the site.
