Ram Chandra Paudel pays respect to Prithvi Narayan Shah on National Unity Day
President Ram Chandra Paudel paid tribute to the statue of Prithvi Narayan Shah, the key figure behind Nepal’s unification, located in front of the West Gate of Singha Durbar on Saturday.
The occasion marked the 303rd birth anniversary of the first King of unified Nepal, Prithvi Narayan Shah.
Prithvi Narayan Shah, born on January 11, 1723,in Gorkha to King Narbhupal Shah and Queen Kaushalyawati, is remembered for his pivotal role in uniting Nepal.
Complaint filed against Judge Nitij Rai over Rabi Lamichhane’s bail
A complaint has been filed with the Judicial Council against District Court Judge Nitij Rai of Kaski, who released Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane on bail in a case involving cooperative fraud, organized crime, and money laundering.
The complaint, filed by Yubaraj Safal from Sindhuli, criticizes the judge’s decision to grant bail of Rs 6.5 million despite substantial evidence suggesting Lamichhane should be sent to prison.
The complaint argues that the judge’s order to release Lamichhane and six other defendants on bail came as a shock to the victims of the cooperative fraud and justice-seeking citizens.
Prime Minister Oli attends RPP’s tea reception
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has participated in a tea reception organized by the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) at Bhrikutimandap today, on the occasion of the 303rd birth anniversary of Prithvi Narayan Shah and National Unity Day.
The Prime Minister, who is also the Chair of the CPN-UML, was welcomed by RPP Chair Rajendra Lingden and other leaders during the event.
Similarly, another tea reception was held by Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal at Amrapali Banquet, Baluwatar, in honor of Prithvi Narayan Shah’s birth anniversary and National Unity Day.
PM Oli: Ordinance aims to remove barriers for Nepali IT firms’ global operations
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has announced that the recently proposed ordinance related to information technology (IT) aims to establish the sector as a significant foreign exchange earning industry for Nepal.
According to the Prime Minister, the ordinance seeks to remove legal barriers and facilitate the global operations of Nepali IT companies.
The ordinance, recommended to the President following a Cabinet meeting on Friday, introduces provisions that allow Nepali IT companies to invest and open branch offices abroad.
NEA reduces electricity leakage by 12%
The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has reduced system electricity leakage, bringing it down to 12.73 percent in the last fiscal year.
According to details submitted to the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, this marks a substantial improvement from eight years ago when leakage stood at 25.78 percent.
In fiscal year 2022/23, electricity leakage was at 13.46 percent, which was further reduced to 12.73 percent in fiscal year 2023/24.
Nepali instructors launch sky diving in Pokhara
Nepali instructors have introduced sky diving services in Pokhara, utilizing expertise gained from working abroad.
While foreign instructors have previously led sky diving experiences in Nepal, this marks the first instance of a fully Nepali team conducting such activities.
Simrik Air, in collaboration with InSky Skydive, has officially started the service, which began on Friday and will continue until January 21.
