Bill on police reforms to be presented in Parliament



KATHMANDU: A bill aimed at amending and consolidating laws related to the Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force, Nepal, is set to be presented in the federal parliament.

The Cabinet meeting held on Friday evening approved the proposal to table both bills in Parliament, according to the Home Minister’s Secretariat.

Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has been emphasizing the need to revise and amend police-related laws to make the organizations more structured, strengthened, and effective in line with contemporary needs.

The Ministry of Home Affairs submitted the bills to the Cabinet after obtaining consensus from the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, and the Public Service Commission.
