Youth dies of high altitude sickness on Manaslu trek



GORKHA: A youth has died of high altitude sickness while trekking toward Larke Pass along the Manaslu trekking route in northern Gorkha.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rajkumar Shrestha of the District Police Office, Gorkha, the deceased has been identified as 23-year-old Rohan Prajapati of Madhyapur Municipality, Bhaktapur. He died on Thursday afternoon due to complications caused by high altitude sickness.

Prajapati and his group had reached Dharamshala in Chumanubri Rural Municipality-1 before continuing their trek toward Larke Pass. “Prajapati died while crossing Larke. Four others in the group have collapsed on the way toward Manang,” DSP Shrestha said.
