Prachanda commits to reclaiming top political spot

KATHMANDU: Maoist Center Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has reaffirmed his commitment to making the Maoist Center the leading political party in Nepal by uniting all factions within the party.

“Just as we were the number one party in the 2064 BS elections, though we could not sustain that position, we are determined to reclaim it by delivering good governance, prosperity, social justice, and advancing the path toward socialism as the people desire,” he said.

Prachanda also noted the formation of a socialist front that includes the Biplav-led CPN, the Madhav Nepal-led CPN Unified Socialist, and the Mahendra Raya-led Nepal Samajwadi Party, adding that discussions on further unity are ongoing.

Speaking at a program, Prachanda highlighted that the Maoist Center is actively campaigning for good governance, social justice, and prosperity. He said the party is working to reconnect with the public by addressing past mistakes and weaknesses to move the socialist revolution forward to a new phase.

Following their departure from the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) led by Ashok Rai, several leaders and cadres from JSP Karnali, including Karnali Province President Devi Krishna Neupane, have joined the Maoist Center.

At a special event held at the Prachanda’s residence in Khumaltar, he welcomed the new members into the party.

He expressed confidence that these new entrants and integrations would inject fresh energy and enthusiasm into the party’s ongoing campaign.

Prachanda further stated that the Maoist Center is becoming increasingly attractive to political activists and assured that suitable responsibilities will be assigned to those joining the party.
