Digital media operators form alliance



KATHMANDU: Media outlets that publish and broadcast news through the digital media have formed the Digital Media Alliance Nepal (DMAN).

The DMAN was formally announced today from Lumbini. The alliance was registered a few days ago and a nine-member working committee under the chair of Moharaj Poudel has been constituted.

Media outlets active in digital media are currently affiliated with the alliance, which will advocate for the rights, interests and impartiality of digital media, said Yubaraj Kandel, general secretary of the alliance. The alliance will also work in enhancing the capacity and quality of journalists associated with digital media, as well as protecting and promoting the digital media.

The Alliance led by Poudel of Sunaulo Nepal includes Monika Singh of Nepal One HD and Mahesh Poudel of Hulak Sanchar as Vice-chairs, the general secretary is Yubaraj Kandel of Sidhakura Media Network, the secretary is Arjun Bista of Right Sanchar, and the treasurer is Kamal Chaulagain of Laliguras.

The members are Gopi Krishna Chapagain of Artist Khabar and Narendra Mahara of Abat Nepal while Bijan Duwadi of Citizen HD is the advisor.
