KATHMANDU: India has pledged to assist Nepal in successfully conducting the upcoming House of Representatives elections.
During a courtesy meeting with Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal on Sunday, Munu Mahawar, Additional Secretary of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, expressed India’s commitment to providing the necessary resources and security arrangements for the elections.
Munu Mahawar, an additional secretary at India’s Ministry of External Affairs, arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday as part of his Nepal visit.
According to the Home Minister’s Secretariat, Mahawar also assured support for post-earthquake reconstruction in Jajarkot and the restoration and management of structures damaged by disasters. During the meeting, he extended an invitation to Minister Aryal to visit India at an appropriate time.
Home Minister Aryal requested acceleration of work on the dry port under construction at Dodhara-Chandani in Kanchanpur. He also highlighted the need for both countries to strengthen the capacity of border security agencies, enhance information sharing, and effectively control cross-border crimes, theft, smuggling, and other illicit activities.
