Basnet slams govt decision to shut Nagdhunga road during UML convention

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML leader Mahesh Basnet has objected to the government’s decision to close the Nagdhunga–Piplamod road section during the party’s national convention.

Basnet said the move, announced for December 10 to 16, was a retaliatory and politically motivated step taken with the intention of disrupting the event. He accused the government and the Minister for Energy and Physical Infrastructure of acting out of political vengeance.

“This decision taken by the government and Kulman (Ghising) with the intent to disturb the UML national convention from December 13 to 15 is not just wrong, it is revenge politics. Let it be clear, revenge only invites revenge,” Basnet warned.

He urged the government to withdraw the decision immediately and implement the road closure from the first week of Poush instead, saying such a move would serve the interests of both the government and Minister Ghising.
