Baglung Municipality begins road blacktopping

BAGLUNG: Baglung Municipality has launched blacktopping on five inner roads within the city, aiming to complete the projects by mid-November.

The deteriorating condition of small and fragmented roads in Baglung Bazaar prompted the municipality to begin repairs. Blacktopping has started on the road from the Army Barracks in Upallachaur-4 to Red Apple Hotel.

In addition, preparations have begun to blacktop the road from Hallan Chowk to Buddha Bihar Chowk, blacktop the road from the Traffic Office to the Municipality Office.

The municipality is also addressing potholes across Baglung Bazaar as part of this initiative, according to municipal engineer Sobin Gharti.

A contract worth Rs 10.8 million has been signed to carry out blacktopping, and pothole repairs on these five roads. Although preparations for blacktopping began before July, heavy rainfall caused delays.

With blacktop peeling off and potholes appearing on several roads in Baglung Bazaar, this contract will cover both resurfacing and slope work. Despite annual expenditure of over Rs 10 million on road repairs in the market area, narrow drains often cause rapid road deterioration during the rainy season.

Mayor Basanta Kumar Shrestha said the municipality has been working throughout the year to improve road conditions and facilitate smooth transport of goods to Baglung Bazaar.
