69 drinking water, irrigation, and river control schemes implemented in Myagdi



MYAGDI: The Drinking Water, Water Resources and Irrigation Development Division Office, Myagdi, implemented 69 schemes related to drinking water, irrigation, river control, and energy in the last fiscal year 2024/25.

According to the office, a total of Rs. 139.908 million was spent out of the allocated budget of Rs. 139.908 million. Division Chief Jhalak Mohan Ojha stated that 64 out of 67 provincial and all five federal conditional schemes under the mentioned categories were successfully implemented.

The projects included 26 resource-assured, 28 sequential, and 18 annual schemes. Among them, 17 drinking water, six irrigation and river control schemes, and one each for energy and study/survey were completed.

Under the drinking water schemes, 1,283 taps were constructed, of which 931 have been metered and are currently supplying water. The projects also involved the installation of 3,119 meters of main pipelines, 106 kilometers of branch pipelines, 22 reserve tanks with a combined capacity of 4,072 cubic meters, and 277 additional structures.

Irrigation projects expanded or upgraded facilities across 70 hectares of farmland, including the construction of 6 kilometers of concrete canals, 6.11 kilometers of pipeline, five dams, and 47 other irrigation structures.

Under the river control initiative, 40 meters of concrete walls and 250 meters of gabion walls were built in six flood- and erosion-prone areas. In Begma of Raghuganga-1, 300 gabion walls were constructed to prevent landslides.

According to Division Chief Ojha, 110 households have benefited from the river and landslide control plans, and 2.5 hectares of land have been protected or restored. In addition, solar energy systems in 114 houses were repaired during the fiscal year.
