Over 2,000 taxpayers suspended in Chitwan for failing to submit VAT details

CHITWAN: A total of 2,373 value-added tax (VAT) payers registered at the Internal Revenue Office in Bharatpur have been suspended for failing to submit their VAT statements for the past six months.

According to Information Officer Bimal Paudel, around 2,400 registered VAT payers had not submitted their tax details, and only 27 complied after the department issued a notice on April 24.

As a result, the operations of the suspended taxpayers have been halted, and the public has been advised not to engage in business transactions with them.

To resume operations, the suspended taxpayers must submit all pending tax statements. Chitwan district has over 72,000 taxpayers, including more than 10,000 VAT-registered businesses.

Nationwide, the Inland Revenue Department has suspended 95,349 taxpayers for failing to submit their VAT returns by the deadline.
