Agriculture Minister urges not to use excessive toxicants in agricultural crops

NAWALPARASI: Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Ramnath Adhikari has urged the farmers not to use excessive toxicity in agricultural crops.

The minister made the request while inspecting the collective onion farming by the farmers at Kawasoti Municipality-15 Godar in Nawalparasi (Bardghat East) this morning.

“Do not use too much poison in agricultural crops, if you use too much poison, you will also become ill,” Minister said.

Minister Adhikari claims to have been able to convince the farmers that the government looks after them when they are in deficit, not that there is any profit from the farming done in the hope of getting some income.

“Now many farmers are satisfied but in some places they are unhappy because of diseases and non-availability of chemical fertilizers as well,” he said.

” Prime Minister’s Agriculture Modernization Project, Project Implementation Unit Nawalpur conducted a programme for commercial onion cultivation, this year 25 groups have been engaged in commercial onion cultivation in Nawalparasi (Bardaghat East).

According to Sunil Kumar Singh, the head of the project implementation unit Nawalpur, onion has been cultivated on 20 bighas of land in the district.
