EC to meet party representatives on Oct 16 for March 5 polls

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) is set to hold discussions with political party representatives on October 16, ahead of the elections scheduled for March 5, 2026.

According to Acting Chief Election Officer Ram Prasad Bhandari, preparations are underway to formally consult with party representatives as part of the election planning process.

The Commission is preparing to hold discussions with party representatives regarding the upcoming elections. Major parties will be invited to participate, and the EC will send formal letters of invitation, according to EC.

The Commission has also stated that discussions on implementing the election schedule will take place during the meeting. Each party has already designated a contact person to coordinate with the EC, and the meeting is being arranged in consultation with them.

The EC’s move to convene this meeting comes amid criticism from party leaders over the lack of consultation following the public announcement of the election schedule.
