Lumpy skin disease spreads across Bhojpur

BHOJPUR: Lumpy skin disease has now spread to all local levels within Bhojpur district, infecting hundreds of cattle and buffaloes.

According to the Veterinary Hospital and Animal Service Expert Center, a total of 629 animals have been affected so far.

Chief of the center, Pushparaj Dahal, reported that while 221 animals have recovered, 408 remain infected. The disease has so far claimed the lives of three cattle and buffaloes.

Of the currently infected animals, 393 are cattle and 15 are buffaloes. Chief Dahal expressed concern that the outbreak is intensifying and poses a risk of turning into an epidemic if not contained.

To curb the spread, the office has vaccinated 9,350 animals across the district. Authorities are continuing efforts to monitor and control the disease.
