Bhojpur mass murder: Victims’ bodies sent to Dharan for forensic examination

BHOJPUR: The bodies of four individuals brutally murdered in Bhojpur’s Ramprasad Rai Rural Municipality–2, Dhodlekhani, have been sent to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan for forensic examination.

The bodies were initially taken to the Bhojpur District Hospital on Sunday, but due to the lack of forensic testing equipment there, they were referred to Dharan for detailed analysis.

The victims — 16-year-old Manisha Giri, her 68-year-old father Bel Bahadur Giri, 45-year-old mother Manju Giri, and 9-year-old brother Sapan Giri — were allegedly murdered by 30-year-old Rajendra Rai, Manisha’s husband.

Rai, a resident of Bhojpur Municipality–2, is currently undergoing treatment in Dharan for injuries sustained during the incident.

Due to the victims’ poor financial condition, the Ramprasad Rai Rural Municipality Secretariat collected and handed over a financial aid of Rs 114,871 to the bereaved family to help with expenses related to the postmortem and other immediate needs.

Rural Municipality Chairperson Thambahadur Rai stated that the local executive committee has also agreed to provide additional support.

“The victims’ family is in dire financial condition,” he said. “We’ve handed over the funds collected by the Secretariat and will also extend help from the rural municipality itself.”

The gruesome killings occurred on Saturday night, reportedly at the hands of the son-in-law of the family, sending shockwaves throughout the community. Police are continuing their investigation into the motive and circumstances surrounding the crime.
