PM Karki directs Home Minister to study Bardiya incident



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has directed Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal to study the incident occurred in Bardiya over the citizenship issue. A girl lost her life being extremely dejected over the abortive efforts to acquire citizenship.

A girl from Bhakari village of Badhaiyatal-4 of Bardiya district resorted to taking her life that resulted into the death of her 61-year-old father. This incident aggrieved the PM, a social media post PM made read on Saturday.

“It is a matter of sheer disgrace to our society and State that both of them took their lives. The judicial-administrative hassles are major reasons behind such ill fate. I, as a PM, apologize over this incident. I’ve directed the Home Minister to conduct an in-depth investigation on the incident,” PM Karki mentioned her Facebook post.

No gender-based violence and discrimination including citizenship acquisition would be tolerated, she said, appealing to all sides to facilitate everyone in securing justice.
