KOICA launches Inclusive Rural Development Project in Bardiya



KATHMANDU: The Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, has launched the Inclusive Rural Development Project in Bardiya.

The project, valued at USD 80 million, was officially initiated on Wednesday with the first steering committee meeting held in the region.

The five-year project aims to support rural development and inclusive growth in Bardiya. According to a press release from KOICA, the meeting was chaired by Nita Pokharel Aryal, the Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, with co-chairmanship from KOICA’s Country Director, Kang Mu-hon.

The meeting was attended by mayors of Bardiya’s Barbardiya, Bansgadhi, Badhaiyatal, Geruwa, Gulariya, Madhuban, Rajapur, and Thakur Baba municipalities, as well as representatives from Bardiya National Park and the Korean Institute for Development Strategy’s management advisory team.

The project is set to focus on improving rural infrastructure, enhancing agricultural productivity, and fostering economic development in the area. KOICA is optimistic that the project will make significant contributions to Nepal’s rural development and sustainable economic growth.
