Prachanda: Elections must be held on announced date

KATHMANDU: Chair of the Maoist Centre’s General Convention Organizing Committee, Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda’, has emphasized that the upcoming elections must be conducted on the announced date.

Speaking to journalists after the party’s Secretariat meeting held at the party headquarters in Paris Danda on Monday, Prachanda said all political parties should participate in the election process.

“The Maoist Centre will take part in the elections with full commitment. Discussions with other political parties are also underway, and results will be visible soon,” he said.

He added that the party’s Central Committee meeting has already decided how the Maoist Centre will move forward in the current political context.

The Maoist Centre has announced that it will actively participate in the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5 (Fagun 21).

In addition, the party has decided to dissolve its existing Central Committee and hold a special general convention in Mangsir (November/December) to finalize the ongoing internal debate on leadership and generational transfer within the party.
