Nepal takes on hosts Bhutan today in AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers



KATHMANDU: Nepal is set to kick off its AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup qualification campaign today with a highly anticipated match against hosts Bhutan at the Changlimithang Football Stadium in Thimphu.

The Group A clash is scheduled to begin at 5:45 PM local time.

Both Nepal and Bhutan will be eyeing a winning start to the tournament. Nepal enters the match with boosted confidence following two commanding victories over Bhutan during the recent SAFF U-20 Women’s Championship held in Dhaka. Nepal had comfortably defeated Bhutan 6–1 and 8–0 in that tournament, establishing a psychological edge ahead of today’s encounter.

Despite the earlier results, Nepal’s head coach Yam Prasad Gurung is not underestimating the hosts. Gurung said Nepal would approach all group matches with equal seriousness and respect for each opponent in the group.
